Can I Use Flexible Tubing for My Home Repipe?

Cross-linked polyethylene, or PEX, is the go-to choice for home repiping. This plastic material is more cost-effective than copper and easier to install due to its light weight. PEX is also quite durable and should last for many years, although it can occasionally split. PEX, a flexible tube that comes in long rolls, offers several advantages over traditional pipes.

It allows for long, continuous runs with fewer elbows and joints, and it can be maneuvered through joists and struts. Additionally, PEX does not sweat in high humidity conditions and is resistant to bursting even if the lines freeze. To add accessories, simply crimp metal rings onto barbed accessories with a special crimping tool.
